Introduction
My current event that i chose to research was on President Obama's health care reform bill. I became very informed on many different topics and arguments throughout my research on this event. The specific current event that I chose was the House Democrats unveiling that $894 billion health care bill. Within this bill, all Americans would be provided health insurance and health care and no one was allowed to be uninsured. Democrats are sure that this will create better coverage and care to all Americans and use all the money that we spend through taxes to provide coverage to all. The argument of my current event was that it was unfair to tax the wealthy and make those who are already insured, pay for insurance that they do not even want to pay for. Many Americans are concerned about having to switch to a doctor that they do no necessarily want to have, but must have because it is their only choice. Some prominent trends that I noticed were Republicans being very concerned about how the bill will effect business' nation wide and lead to many thousands of Americans that work for insurance companies to lose their jobs because they are put out of business by government mandated insurance companies. A popular trend that I saw within the Democrats' arguments was that this nation spends more money than any other nation on this planet in health care costs, yet over 36 million citizens are uninsured. Another Democratic argument was that it was a crime for insurance companies to drop customers because they ran up a hospital bill and could not afford it, or because they could not afford care in the first place so they were denied and soon died from their illness. There is definitely something that needs to change about health care and every man and every party has a different approach.
